Bottle Bacchanal is a woman-owned wine and spirits shop in San Francisco, specializing in natural wines, small-batch liquors, non-alcoholic spirits, and vintage barware. We’re a small neighborhood spot thats 100% committed to making our customers feel like they’ve discovered something truly special.

 

The Role

 

We’re looking for a part-time team member who’s passionate about wine, great with people, and ready to help keep Bottle Bacchanal running smoothly. Whether you’re pouring samples at a tasting, helping someone pick the perfect gift, or making the shop look its best, you’ll be a vital part of our team.

 

Experience and Knowledge

• Customer Service Experience: At least 1 year of experience in retail, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing role.

• Wine and Spirits Knowledge: Basic understanding of natural wines, small-batch spirits, or a genuine enthusiasm to learn quickly. Familiarity with tasting notes and pairings is a plus.

• Event Assistance: Experience with hosting or assisting in events, tastings, or pop-ups is highly desirable.

 

Skills and Abilities

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to engage and educate customers about our products in a warm, approachable way.

• Sales-Oriented: Ability to recommend and upsell products while ensuring the customer feels informed and valued.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to keep the shop organized and visually appealing, restocking inventory as needed and creating attractive displays.

• Time Management: Capability to manage multiple tasks during busy periods, such as assisting customers, handling transactions, and restocking products.

• Tech Savvy: Comfortable using a POS system, tracking inventory, and processing payments (we’ll provide training on our system if needed).

 

Physical Requirements

• Mobility: Must be able to stand for extended periods and move around the shop during shifts.

• Lifting: Comfortable lifting and carrying boxes of wine or spirits (up to 30 lbs).

• Stocking: Ability to climb a small step stool or ladder to retrieve inventory.

 

Personal Attributes

• Passion for Wine and Spirits: A genuine interest in natural wines, small-batch spirits, and the broader beverage industry.

• Collaborative Spirit: Works well in a small team and contributes to a supportive, fun, and dynamic environment.

• Creative Problem-Solver: Willingness to adapt and think on your feet to meet customer needs and solve shop-related challenges.

 

Additional Requirements

• Availability: Must have Sun-Weds availability 

• Professionalism: A reliable and punctual work ethic, with respect for the shop’s standards and values.

• Age Requirement: Must be 21+ due to alcohol handling and sales regulations.
